The best way to show your braided wig love, is to love it right back. A good wash every so often will keep your braided wig looking new and fresh for longer. You can use simple everyday products found at home to wash your braided wig.

What you will need:

  • Wig shampoo and conditioner.
  • A stand - could be a coat hanger, or a cupboard handle, basically anywhere you can hang your braided wig.
  • Use your hand as a comb, to detangle and smooth out your braided wig and to prevent the ends from shedding.

The first thing you need to do is detangle the wig. Use your fingers for this and run them through your braided wig from the wig cap to the ends.

Next, dry wash the full wig from the braided wig cap to the ends. Run your braided wig through a generous amount of warm water to wet it fully. Then, apply shampoo, both in and out.

Massage the shampoo well into the braided wig; start with the braided wig cap, inwards in gentle circular motions.

Then, rinse off with lukewarm water and run the water through your braided wig from the roots to the ends.

Squeeze, but do not wring your braided wig to remove excess water. This should be done gently from the braided wig cap to the ends.

Pat to dry with a clean towel, then leave to dry. You can condition your braided wig at least twice a month to weed out excess oils and keep your braided wig feeling new and fresh.

Side note:  For curly wigs, leave the hairnet on as you wash, so as not to untangle the curls.
